Brief description of the installation of industrial gas detectors

2025-02-19

Preparation before installation

1. Familiar with the specifications: Installers must be familiar with the relevant specifications such as GB/T 50493-2019 "Design Standard for Detection and Alarm of Combustible Gas and Toxic Gases in Petrochemical Industry", GB 15322-2019 National Standard for Combustible Gas Detector Series.

2. Determine the installation position: Determine based on the properties of the gas and the possible leakage source position. If in an open-air or open factory, the horizontal distance between the combustible gas detector and any release source should not be greater than 10m, and the toxic gas detector should not be greater than 4m; in a closed factory or a semi-open factory with poor local ventilation, combustible gas detection should not be greater than 10m; in a closed factory or a semi-open factory with poor local ventilation, combustible gas detection The horizontal distance between the device and any release source should not be greater than 5m, and the toxic gas detector should not be greater than 2m.

3. Check the equipment: Check whether the appearance of the detector is damaged and the parts are complete to ensure that the equipment is intact and can work normally.

4. Prepare tools and materials: prepare screwdrivers, wrenches, electric drills and other installation tools, as well as materials such as three-core shielded cables.

Installation process requirements

1. Installation height

o Gas heavier than air: When detecting combustible or toxic gases heavier than air, the installation height of the detector should be 0.3m to 0.6m from the floor (or floor).

o Gas lighter than air: When detecting combustible or toxic gases lighter than air, the installation height of the detector should be 0.5m to 2m higher than the release source.

o Gas close to the air density: If the density of the detected gas is close to the air, the detector should be installed at the breathing height.

2. Installation method

o Fixing method: The ceiling lifting, wall installation or pipe installation can be used, and the detector must be firmly fixed with screws, and the sensor must be facing downward.

o Wiring requirements: The detector wiring should be made of three-core shielded cables, with a single wire diameter greater than 1 square mm, and the shielding layer must be grounded during wiring. The on-site wiring should be through the pipe, the pipe used should meet the fire protection requirements and be connected to the probe.

3. Installation details

o Environmental requirements: Installed in a place without impact, vibration, strong magnetic field interference and easy to repair, the surrounding ambient temperature should be within the working temperature range of the detector, and the relative humidity is generally not greater than 95% RH.

o Spacing requirements: The clearance between the detector and the surrounding process pipeline or equipment should not be less than 0.5m.

Debugging and maintenance after installation

1. Debugging: When determining that there is no combustible gas leakage on site, open the cover to debug the probe and adjust the detector's sensitivity, alarm threshold and other parameters according to the instruction manual.

2. Acceptance: According to relevant standards and design requirements, comprehensive acceptance of installation quality, detector performance, etc., check whether the detector can work normally and whether the alarm is timely and accurate.

3. Regular maintenance: Regularly clean the probe, shell and other parts of the detector to remove dust, oil and other impurities; check whether the detector's sensor is working normally and calibrate it at specified time intervals.
